# Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on what Tavrn retrieves, where it reaches, and how it fits the way your team already works.

## What types of records can Tavrn retrieve?

Medical records, billing records, radiology images, accident reports and insurance coverage from any US provider — plus medical chronologies and demand letters built from the record.

## Which providers can Tavrn reach?

Around 425,000 provider organizations across all 50 states and DC: the health-data networks plus the long tail that only answers fax, portal, mail, email or phone.

## How long does retrieval take?

Requests go to the provider the same day. Every open request is followed up automatically every 48 hours, and you see per-provider status and provider-stated dates live.

## Does Tavrn replace our existing system?

No. Start requests from Litify, SmartAdvocate, Clio, Smokeball, SharePoint or Dropbox and records land back where you work; anything else connects over the API and webhooks.

## How long does it take to get started?

Requests can start the day your team gets access to the Tavrn app. Litify, SmartAdvocate, Clio, Smokeball, SharePoint and Dropbox connect during onboarding without engineering work on your side; API keys are issued in the Tavrn dashboard after a 30-minute call.

## Who uses Tavrn?

Teams that need outside medical records to do their work: health systems and clinics, clinical research sites, healthcare startups, insurers, and law firms.

## What do we need to start a request?

A signed patient authorization and what you know about the provider: name, location, and the dates of service if you have them. Tavrn resolves the custodian and the provider’s own forms from there.

## How is patient data protected?

Tavrn handles protected health information under HIPAA; a BAA is available on request. Records are encrypted at rest and in transit, sign-in is single sign-on with Microsoft or Google, and every outreach attempt on a request is logged. See the trust center for details.
